LIVE BLOG: Robin Roberts' ABC Primetime Interview With Janet Jackson 11.18.09

Her first interview since her brother Michael's unexpected passing in June, Janet Jackson will sit down with ABC's Robin Roberts 10pm est Wednesday night on ABC.

Janet will discuss about her attempts to help Michael deal with his addictions to prescription drugs; and if Michael's Doctor, Dr. Condrad Murray should be allowed to continue to practice medicine.

Dr. Murray has been charged with manslaughter for his alleged giving of a lethal dose of the power sedative Propofol to the King of Pop in addition to not calling 911 for over an hour after complications had become apparent.

Grammys' Best New Artist '10: Not Kid Cudi or Lady GaGa; Keri Hilson a Frontrunner

When we think about some of the best new artist of the past year, three names come to mind: Kid Cudi, Lady GaGa, and Keri Hilson. Therefore they should all be eligible for the Grammy's coveted best new artist award, right?The answer is no.

According to Grammy rules only Keri Hilson fits the criteria for being best new artist and here's why:

Lady Gaga, who has captured the pop culture zeitgeist like no other act since Madonna, has scored multiple No. 1 singles and sold more than 1.53 million copies of her Cherry Tree/Interscope debut, "The Fame," according to Nielsen SoundScan. However because her No. 1 hit "Just Dance" received a nomination for dance recording for the 51st annual Grammys, she is not eligible for new artist, according to Grammy regulations.

Kid Cudi, a Kanye West protege whose 'Day 'n' Nite" took up residence on the Hot 100, did not release an album within the eligibility period (contenders must have an album out, not just singles).

The guidelines are unfair, in need of changing. If she were allowed to compete in the category Lady GaGa would have definitely won while Kid Cudi is worthy of the nomination.

With Kid Cudi out of the running the only other rapper eligible for the nomination in the category is Asher Roth. Nope, not even Drake is eligible, blame it on his knee for not letting him put out a great album in the eligible.

Luckily for Keri Hilson other possible contenders haven't quite as much as her and she has cool points with Grammy voters:

Though she has been writing for other stars for years as an artist new to live performances she has room to improve in that area. Still it is undeniable that Keri has delivered a solid first album that has given her a strong start to becoming a star in her own right.

With all things considered POP.N.COLOR is pressed to see Keri accepting the award for Best New Artist. she has 01.31.2010 at the 52nd Grammy awards. Not that POP.N.COLOR's endorsement has any bearing on the vote.
